Photo/Video of the Week#6 – Bestfriends

Yesterday my childhood bestfriend (since grade 3) GDL and my guy BFF (since 1992, I think) RBB celebrated their birthdays. Coincidentally, they share the same birthdate – May 19. Wishing them all the good blessings in the world – they are two of my favorite persons on earth (and I really have a very short list of favorite people excluding my family).

Here’s a “very” old, cropped picture of me and GDL when we were in Grade 4. We attended a Regional Girl Scout Jubilee in Tiwi, Albay (yes, even before, we were already lakwatseras).

GDL and I met when I transferred to BECS from Manila. We were 9 years old then. Now, we’re just a year away from the silver anniversary of our friendship (do the math, haha!)! I can always say that GDL is that one true friend who always thinks I am a good egg, even if I am half-cracked!

The Rum Tum Tugger

The Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat:
If you offer him pheasant he would rather have grouse.
If you put him in a house he would much prefer a flat,
If you put him in a flat then he’d rather have a house.
If you set him on a mouse then he only wants a rat,
If you set him on a rat then he’d rather chase a mouse.
Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat–
And there isn’t any call for me to shout it:
For he will do
As he do do
And there’s no doing anything about it!

The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore:
When you let him in, then he wants to be out;
He’s always on the wrong side of every door,
And as soon as he’s at home, then he’d like to get about.
He likes to lie in the bureau drawer,
But he makes such a fuss if he can’t get out.

Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat–
And there isn’t any use for you to doubt it:
For he will do
As he do do
And there’s no doing anything about it!

The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast:
His disobliging ways are a matter of habit.
If you offer him fish then he always wants a feast;
When there isn’t any fish then he won’t eat rabbit.
If you offer him cream then he sniffs and sneers,
For he only likes what he finds for himself;

So you’ll catch him in it right up to the ears,
If you put it away on the larder shelf.
The Rum Tum Tugger is artful and knowing,
The Rum Tum Tugger doesn’t care for a cuddle;
But he’ll leap on your lap in the middle of your sewing,
For there’s nothing he enjoys like a horrible muddle.
Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat–
And there isn’t any need for me to spout it:
For he will do
As he do do
And there’s no doing anything about it!

Photo/Video of the Week#2 – Yes, I am Pro RH Bill

Found this video while blog hopping and encountered Anna Oposa‘s blog. Like her, I have a lot to say about the Reproductive Health, Family Planning and Women/Children conditions/situation in our country and I am solidly pro – RH Bill but haven’t found a way to really organize and publicize my opinions why I am pro. I am for the Comprehensive Reproductive Health bill presented by Gabriela partylist Representatives Luz Ilagan and Emmi de Jesus, which focus on offering health care services that will basically benefit women, especially those in the marginalized sectors – which are a-plenty here in our country and are in dire, appalling conditions.

When I watched this video of Mechai Viravaidya on explaining effectively why they promote family planning, esp. the use of condoms, how they went about doing their campaign and the results of such, like Anna, I was floored!Β  Here is someone who have neatly declared every argument and opinion I have about being Pro-RH Bill. It’s like someone organized and voiced out my own opinions. I’m sure, others who are Pro like me will say – “that’s exactly what I think!” For Viravaidya and co. however, they did not only think, they aroused, organized and mobilized the people – even provided assistance so that the US can propagate their campaign! Indeed, instead of using weapons of mass destruction, why not weapons of mass protection?

Watch this video and be enlightened.
